Business of the Month
April 2009
State Bank of Prairie du Rocher

The State
Bank of Prairie du Rocher started in business on October 2, 1906 when it
received a charter from the State of Illinois. Throughout the years the bank
has been in three different buildings, all within the same block. The bank
operated in their first building next to Conner’s Store from 1906 to 1939
which then was converted into a post office. The second bank building
located at the corner of Market & DuClos was used from 1939 to 1986 and is
currently the library and offices for Pensoneau Construction. The third bank
building was built during 1985-86 and was moved into on April 26, 1986. The
current building serves as the main office and operations center for the
bank. A branch facility was built in Red Bud and opened its doors in
December 1999.
The
Prairie du Rocher location currently has seven employees and the Red Bud
facility has eight employees. The Board of Directors consists of five local
individuals. The bank is very proud of its employees for their loyal
service, and dedication. Customers can always expect to receive a friendly
greeting and professional service. The bank offers several types of checking
and savings accounts, certificates of deposits, safe deposit boxes, IRA’s
and various loan products. We offer internet banking, bill pay, 24 hour
voice access to account information, web-site at pdrbank.com, license
sticker renewals, car title and license ordering, savings bonds, fax
service. Also, both locations have ATM’s for customer convenience.
The bank
feels the newly formed Chamber of Commerce will be a great asset for the
Village of Prairie du Rocher and surrounding area. It is very important for
a community to have devoted individuals, organizations and businesses to
promote the growth and development of our small community.
