Huntley's Market

This month’s business of the month is Huntley’s Market. Huntley’s started as
Huntley’s Quik Mart on April 4, 1986 in the building next to the city park. Owner
Sandy Huntley says, “I came here 23 years ago as a total stranger and without any
grocery store experience and because of all of the people of Prairie du Rocher I am still
here. I appreciate each and every one of my customers who have also become my
friends!"

The current location was established in 1839 by the Conner family. There are several
store ledgers remaining upstairs that date back to the late 1800’s. The store was then
completely renovated by the Aubuchon family in 1983 when they bought it. It became
Huntley's Market on September 20, 1992. Some employees believe the store is haunted
because of the sounds they have heard at night after closing, but no one has actually
seen anything.

Huntley’s currently employs eight people who all live here in Prairie du Rocher.
They cater to all local organizations and churches for their festivals and special events.
They offer a full meat counter where they
prepare meat and cheese trays as well as fruit baskets for special
occasions, weddings and funerals.

They are open 7 days a week
7:30 am – 8:00 pm Monday – Friday

8:00 am – 8:00pm on Saturday

8:00 am – 4:30 pm on Sundays
