Long Chat de Queue

This month’s Business of the Month is Long Chat de Queue.  The shop opened in April of 2004.  Owner Debbie Horne says, “We are history buffs and love the Fort, we started the store with just a couple handfuls of items.  We had a goal of what type of items we wanted to carry in the gift shop and went from there.  We have grown into a very unique shop.  There hasn’t been a local owned store since the late 1970’s.”

The shop carries a variety of items for everyone.  They have pottery, glass, china, souvenirs, t-shirts, toys and games.  They cater to reinactors carrying such items as homemade soap, muzzleloading supplies, patterns, fabric, compasses, and maps.  Debbie says, “Our pride is our book selection.  We carry books for the history buff at heart, including books on local history, recipe books, and the 18^th century.”  During events there is always food available, they carry licorice, homemade maple sugarcakes, soda and snacks.  Long Chat de Queue is open Wednesday thru Sunday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, including holidays.

Debbie says, “The main advantage to our town now having a Chamber of Commerce is Exposure.  And we need this exposure to bring more people to our town.”  The shop also has a guest book that they ask visitors to sign.  It is very exciting to see the large amount of people from France, Canada, Japan, Germany, Sweden and other places all over the world.  They welcome everyone to stop by and thumb through the pages to see where everyone comes from.  They also have a lot of visitors that tracing down their family from other countries.  Don’t forget Rendezvous is June 6, 7, 8, please go out the Fort and visit Debbie and her shop, Long Chat de Queue.  And ENJOY the Rendezvous!!!!!!!
